The Hutchinson community gathered in numbers higher than many expected to hear a select few tell their stories the other night.
I tagged along with my camera {what a surprise} to capture what I could.
The event, talk20hutch, operates on the format of participants from a community showing 20 images accompanied by 20 seconds of narrative lasting no more than six minutes total.
The concept has been made popular in other towns and cities which was new news to many, including me.
It’s unique because it, so-to-speak, “encourages” those participating to nail the content thus nailing the message trying to be made.
What a concept you say? About what?
Pretty much anything {with-in tastefulness}.
And the audience {it’s free} gets to delight in being not only educated about people, places and things previously not known to them but it can cover a free range of politics, art, cooking and downtown life.
The magic?
It pulls a community together, tightening those strings, those six degrees of separation, well…..tighter.
Into a cohesion that can grab people driven purely by interests, ideas and passions.
The room where the event took place, at our local Hutchinson Public Library, was hot and was packed.
So much so that people had to stand in the hall and peak in through the over-flow doors.
The result?
Success.
The message?
There will be a next time talk20hutch will be in the main library so all can hear, can see and yep, participate.
That list is already exploding.
